{trendspotting: lovely lacquered walls}

High gloss paint adds a liquid-like lustrous sheen to any space! September's issue of House Beautiful highlights an apartment designed by Todd Klein that boasts lacquered walls in almost every room. I love that you can see the reflection of light bouncing off the walls, it really gives a dreamy look.

Aren't these walls as shiny as glass? It really adds warmth to the space. Fabulous!

Can you imagine a candle-lit dinner in a room like this? I bet it would be spectacular.

I love pretty much everything about this feminine office space, from the black glossy walls, to the desk, to the gallery wall, oh my!

Before you run out to buy some high-gloss paint, be warned that it sounds pretty tough to get it just right! Todd Klein explains, "High-gloss paints highlight every dimple and rough spot, so the surface has to be absolutely perfect. You have to have at least two coats of plaster, sanded in between. The lacquering requires layer upon layer of thinned oil paint, with each of those coats sanded in between." Hard work, but I'd say from the evidence above that it sure seems to pay off!
